lvira Manthey (left), presented the CCHR Human Rights Award by Emmy Award-winning actress Michelle Stafford, is the sole survivor of the Brandenburg-Havel Nazi concentration camp. Institutionalized at age 7 (bottom left) because her father was deemed a “lazy worker,” Mrs. Manthey—whose sister (bottom on the right) was murdered in the same camp at 4 years of age—has been stigmatized to this day as “mentally ill.” CCHR joined her battle to remove the psychiatric label from her records.
